On-air Staff

Meet the on-air staff of CFRY 920 AM / 93.1 FM.

Ryan Simpson

You can hear Ryan weekday mornings on CFRY as the host of the morning show. A longtime communtiy supporter, Ryan is coming up on 20 years at the station. He has done pretty much everything at one point and is the program director, a job he considers an honour when you look at the long history of the station. His family is very much involved in the sporting community and it is not unusual to find him, his wife or kids at the hockey rink, baseball field, golf course or school gymnasium. He has been the president of the Portage Plains Men's Slo-Pitch league for 9 years and it's not uncommon to find him emceeing an event or volunteering for a charity.

John Aune

John is the veteran on CFRY. He began his broadcasting career at CFRY in October 1960. Except for a 10 year stint in the mid 60's with a station in Regina, he's been a regular voice to CFRY listeners. You'll hear John weekends in the morning and filling in from time to time during the week. He's probably most recognized as host of the Sunday Request Show for over 20 years. Other than broadcast, his interests are family, cycling, watching curling, reading and giant jigsaw puzzles (saving an 8000 piece puzzle for retirement years).

Rae Hathaway

Rae Hathaway has been in the broadcast industry since 1972. He has worked as an announcer, producer, and news reporter. Rae arrived in Portage in 1996, and spent 9 ½ years as the morning news voice of CFRY. He has been News Director of CFRY/MIX 96.5 FM since 2002. Rae also teaches guitar, and founded the Glesby Rocks Youth Concert Series.

Diane Miller

Diane started at Goldenwest Radio in 2005 joining the morning show team on Mix 96.5. From there she was moved to CFRY where she can be heard in the afternoons. She has been in the business for 10 years, with 7 of that on television. She enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and just hanging out with her family and friends.

Jeff Dyck

Jeff Dyck is your source for sports in the Central Plains. The native of Morden, Manitoba is the proud voice of the Portage Terriers and a die-hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. During the summer months, his love transfers to the ball diamond and the Toronto Blue Jays. When he feels like testing his sanity, you can find him on the golf course, most likely in a sand trap. You can catch Jeff and all your daily sports news every morning on CFRY.

      Dayna Yurkiw

Dayna has been with Golden West Radio since 2007. Whether reporting for the newsroom or delivering the latest country hits she's thrilled to work in the community she has called home for over two decades. You can hear her Monday nights on CFRY or you might just see her out and about at various community events. Outside of work Dayna is a proud member of the Macgregor Iron Maidens Hockey team and Pink Ladies baseball club.
